Hi, I’m a freelance editor and creative writing teacher who’s been working in fiction and non-fiction editing since August 2020 and as a creative writing teacher since 2017.

In 2018 I graduated with an MA in creative writing through Lancaster University. Part-way through my MA I gained a job as a creative writing teacher and discovered that I loved supporting developing writers to hone their stories.

Having worked in primary education for eight years and then sixth-form education for another eight, my first love is children’s and YA Fiction; although I enjoy reading all types of fiction and non-fiction. You can access my book reviews via my monthly newsletter, together with my blogs on different aspects of the writer’s toolbox, simply click on this link: Author’s Pen.

As an author, I write novels and short stories and enjoy challenging myself to explore different genres and topics. Somehow though, my first two novels have come back to being stories about and based on love. I’m in the process of writing a third novel for 8-12 year-olds, based on the true story of my friend’s cat who went missing for nine months.

I’m determined to continue to hone my editing and publishing knowledge and am constantly either attending or planning to attend courses and festivals. As soon as I completed my MA, I began courses with the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP) and have completed a number of their courses, alongside courses by Louise Harnby, Sophie Playle, BookMachine and SYP. Whenever I go to festivals I glean as much information as I can to support authors with their writing aspirations.

In this blog, I’ll share my reviews of books I’ve read; for everything else, head over to: Author’s Pen.
